Sun Smarts and How to Protect Your Skin From The Summer

Like many abusive relationships, the American love affair with the sun is littered with romantic images of debris. From Coco Chanel shines Farah Fawcett Deauville sun-kissed skin, bronzed beauty de rigueur for many times – to acting as an irreversible trend damaging the DNA of 1980 to replace scientists.

“Photodamage and skin cancer, can partly be attributed to the belief that tans are fashionable,” – said Dr.. Lina Andrea Cambio, New York-based American Academy of Dermatology dermatologist and colleagues. Equally insidious is the idea that tanning is healthy “- notes Dr. Alison Ehrlich, director of clinical research assistant and professor of dermatology at George Washington University. In fact, the “healthy” glow anything, but it’s clearly visible skin lesions.

Light trap

Today, some Americans still lost tan outline, but many know, the sun at risk, including burning, premature aging and skin cancer. Sunscreen is an all-time sales record, but also the rate of UV-induced diseases. According to the American Cancer Society, more than 1 million new skin cancer cases diagnosed in the United States each year. That deplete the ozone layer, and earlier detection of aging has been cited as factors, but many dermatologists, the biggest culprit is human behavior – the fact that people are not properly secured.

“Many people believe the myth that the sunscreen – allows them to stay at all day long without accumulating sun damage,” says dr. Susan Sweeney, Children’s Dermatology and Skin Surgery UMass Memorial Health Center Fellow. While it is important to wear sunscreen, it also emphasizes that these products offer only one layer of defense. In addition, and contrary to what is often printed on the product label – dermatologists to emphasize that there is no such thing as “sunblock.” And similarly, no protection from the sun is able to guarantee security on the day and even sweat or water-resistant formula should be applied once a day.

Equally disturbing is that most people choose a sunscreen measures based solely on the SPF (sun protection factor) – the number that only tells the story. According to Sweeney SPF only indicates protection against UVB light (wavelength, is primarily responsible for sunburn). While scientists once believed that UVB was the only one to blame for a wave of long-term skin damage, studies have shown that UVA is also a dangerous carcinogen.

Save your skin

There is no safe haven from the sun (even in daylight in closed spaces, can be harmful). But with a little diligence and prevention plan, you can take decisive steps to protect your skin.

Expand your horizons: “Choose a broad spectrum sunscreen with both UVB and UVA protection, SPF 15 or higher, and ingredients such as titanium dioxide or zinc oxide, which scatter and absorb UV light,” Cambio. Sweeney, a sunscreen containing avobenzone (Parsol 1789), such as Jan Marini Antioxidant Daily Face Protectant SPF 30 protects against UVA rays can also be useful.

Ounce of prevention: All too often, people do not apply enough sunscreen product to be effective, whether they choose instead to protect only their faces and shoulders. Sweeney recommends using at least an ounce of sun cover the entire body.

Make it a habit: “Many people remember to wear sunscreen on the beach, but they should be worn every day,” – says Sweeney. For best results, add it to your morning routine.

More and more, the sunscreen loses its effectiveness throughout the day, must be lubricated again and again. “Apply 30 minutes before impact, then every two to four hours,” – says Ehrlich.

Run cover: clothing, hats, sunglasses, there are potential lifesavers field Ehrlich explains. If you need for a longer period of time, Cambio suggests looking for shade areas.

Watch the clock: The best way to protect yourself from the sun to bypass, particularly during peak exposure times (from 10 to 2 pm). Where possible, Cambio recommends avoiding the midday sun.

Safer Recruitment

Today, protection from the sun gives women what they want – greaseless, broad spectrum protection clever, convenient package. In some cases, they even do double duty, moisturizer, foundation, and lip gloss.

Light weight, total body volume, try PHYTOMER OgénAge Protective Anti-Aging Cream Sunscreen SPF 30, Hampton Sun SPF 30 Lotion or Clinique UV-Response Cream SPF 50th Faces, look for a lot of vitamin formulas, hydrates and protects, such as Cellex-C Sun Care SPF 30, MD-expression found an SPF 30 or Clinique Super City Block Oil Free Daily Face Protector SPF 40th In order to protect the delicate skin around the eyes, try to create a special protection against the sun, for example. Carita Paris Eye Control Suncare SPF 15 or Clarins Sun Wrinkle Control Eye Contour Care, Lip, Benefit and Kiehl each proposal SPF moisturizing lip balms and tinted sheer formulas. And a safe sun-kissed look, such as self-tanners, Biotherm Sunfitness Security Self-Tanner Tinted Cream SPF 15 to spread the instant glow of satisfaction, and DuWop Revolution Tinted Body Moisturizer SPF 15 shimmer offers both UV protection and a hint of sparkle.

Tips to Stay Fashionable in Summer

There are a lot of possibilities when it comes to staying fashionable in summer. The following tips might help you out if you are faced with a dilemma about what to wear or a choice between a summer dress or shorts.

Skin tone bra with white T-Shirts

White T-shirts are certainly summer staples. They help to keep cool while at the same time are trendy. It’s a common misconception that wearing a white bra would be great with a white tee. This would result in your bra’s white clashing against your T-shirt’s white. The smooth cup of a nude bra would instead even out everything.

Practise remaining bare-footed

Summer is the perfect time to walk around wearing sandals without any stockings. While strappy sandals would make your feet look great, blisters might not. You might want to toughen your skin by applying some surgical spirit and practising by not wearing stockings around the house.

Wear a Light Jacket

Even if it’s summer, you might want to bring a light jacket with you when you leave the house. You might either choose a jacket made out of denim or canvas. If you are seeking a more contemporary style, you might want to opt for a bomber jacket or a blazer.

Wearing Fitted T-Shirts

Instead of wearing loose and baggy T-shirts, which are, let’s face it, quite unflattering, it might be a good idea to indulge into some body conscious dressing. You might look for fitted T-shirts in materials such as a cotton/Lycra blend. For the colors, classics such as white or black would be great with jeans.

How to Wear Shorts During Spring and Summer

Written by: A Fashionable Mind

Summer is the perfect time to wear shorts. Your summer shorts wardrobe should include much more than just denim and cutoffs. The tips below might help you include more shorts in your summer style.

Boyfriend Shorts

The perfect pair of boyfriend shorts should ideally be a little long and fit low on your hips. In order to style these, opt for the same method that you would use for boyfriend jeans. Start by rolling the cuffs and pairing them with something slouchy such as a loose button-down shirt, T-shirt or tank top.

Botanical Print

Botanical prints were long regarded as being the ultimate picture of kitsch, especially when holidaying or during summer. When fashion has channeled the tropical vibes, this has given rise to colorful and graphical prints. Tropical print shorts can be paired with strappy flat-colored sandals and mirrored sunglasses.

High-Waisted Cutoffs

High-waisted cutoff shorts are staple pieces and have existed since forever. These type of shorts are best worn with loose graphic T-shirts and a pair of flats. A belt can also be added to lay emphasis on the waist.

Lace Shorts

Lace shorts are best worn with loose tops inspired from menswear. Only a few inches of the shorts should be visible. The rest would need to be covered by the top. A pair of heels can also be worn to lay emphasis on the legs.

Leather Shorts

Leather shorts are more elegant when they are worn quite loose. The look can further be kept light and springy with pops of color or white pieces

Summer is Here

Summer is here and that means a whole new style for you and your current wardrobe. One of the unfortunate things about summer is that it tends to get a little too hot for comfort. This means that you’re going to have less layers to play around with. With less clothes to wear at any one time, it starts to get hard looking good, but worry not because here are a few tips on how to keep looking this summer!

Playing with colors

You may have less clothes but those clothes still have color. You can play around with the colors of your outfit and make a whole new look each time. There literally millions of color combinations out there for you to use! You can go with the conventional bright summer colors to give your look a cheery vibe or go with different color combos to give your outfit an edge. You can also play around with textures to make your outfit stand out from the rest.

Accessorize

With less clothes comes more skin, and there isn’t much to do with your skin except keep it looking fabulous. However, there are other pieces you can wear that don’t add to the heat you will feel. Spice up your outfit with bracelets and necklaces to give it a little extra something. Some jewelry can totally reinvent your outfit and the beauty of it all is that if you pick the right kind of jewelry, it can go with anything.

Kaki West’s Summertime Health Tips

Learn how to use sunscreen. By now you probably already know that it’s important to shield your skin from harmful UV rays using sunscreen. Doing so prevents cancer and keeps your skin looking beautiful (See Kaki West Images). But many people don’t know how to use it, how much to use, and how often. Here’s the scoop: It’s best to use an SPF of 15 or 30. Put it on at least 30 minutes before going out in the sun, and then apply it often while you’re still out and about. How often? Apply sunscreen at least once an hour to be safe, and after swimming or exercise.

Stay hydrated. Many people overdo it in the summer and as a result end up getting dehydrated, a condition that occurs when your body loses more water than it needs to survive. In general, it’s a good idea to drink more water when it’s hotter than usual outside. To avoid dehydration, bring a bottle of water with you everywhere you go, especially if you’re exercising or travelling. Staying hydrated not only avoids dehydration, but also keeps your skin beautiful and healthy.

Airbrush Tanning Prep Tips

Written by Cosmix Inc.

Who doesn’t want a golden tan throughout the year? Fortunately, getting a golden tan doesn’t have to involve harmful UV rays. A growing number of health-conscious men and women are getting natural-looking tans without ever stepping foot into a tanning salon or lying out in the sun. How? Airbrush tanning. Sure, there are many sunless tanning products on the market. But none of them come close to the color and beauty of an airbrush tan.

However, before you can get an airbrush tan, it’s important to prep your skin. Getting your skin ready for an air tan will ensure that you get an even, long-lasting tan. Here’s how to get your body ready for airbrush tanning.

Cleanse and exfoliate. An airbrush tan can’t get applied evenly on dry, rough, or uneven skin. Before going to the salon, cleanse and exfoliate your skin the morning of the treatment. Use soap to remove sweat, perfumes, lotion or oil. Then exfoliate the skin from your face to your toes. Exfoliating the skin requires more than cleaning the skin with soap and water. You will need to remove the dead surface layer of your skin using an exfoliating brush, salt scrub, sugar scrub, or an exfoliating scrub.

Along with traditional exfoliating treatments you can try at home, many beauty salons offer their own exfoliating treatments, such as gels and pH balancing prep wipes. If you’re getting your treatment done by a professional makeup artist who has attended one of the leading schools for makeup artistry, the technician might apply a pre-tan exfoliator lotion. This lotion is designed to not only exfoliate the skin, but also remove any final sweat, perfumes, oil and moisturizers.

Get rid of unwanted hair. Another important step to preparing the skin for an airbrush tan is to remove any unwanted hair from your arms, legs, and other areas of the body. But how and when you remove the hair is what matters. Shave unwanted hair the night before your treatment. If you are going to wax the hair, simply wait four days before getting an airbrush tan.

Remove jewelry and clothes. The final part to preparing your body for an airbrush tan is the removal of everything from jewelry to clothes. An airbrush tan must be applied while wearing special disposable coverings, including disposable caps, bras, and thongs. You can also wear your bathing suit. The makeup artists at Cosmix Inc. are taught the proper way to apply an airbrush tan, which includes the proper body positions you will need to get into during the application.

Make up tips for summer

Written by: Daily Makeover Beauty Board

Summer is all about minimal makeup and maximum glow. You would not want to layer on too much with the risk that it might all melt away with sweat. The only thing that ask for generous lathering in summer is sunscreen. The tips below could help you perfect that summer look.

Concealing

Whether it’s just for a beach look or for a more carefree summer style, this about keeping your makeup minimal. A concealer could help you with that. You could use it to cover up any spot, blemishes and dark circles and to skip foundation.

Tinted moisturizer

If you require some additional coverage apart from the concealer, you might opt for a tinted moisturizer. This would help you achieve an even tone on your skin and would give you a nice summer glow.

Apply bronzer

While staying out in the sun too much is not recommended, you could give the impression that you have gained some tan by applying bronzer on your face. The application of the bronzer should be light and not overdone. Opt for bronzer that have peach or pink undertones and apply over the apples of the cheeks, on your nose and temple.

Waterproof mascara

Use waterproof mascara especially if you would be splashing water on your face often to get rid of the heat or going for a swim. Brown waterproof mascaras are great for summer looks as they are discreet.

Wear light lipsticks

Use lightweight lipsticks or tinted lip balms to help you feel fresh and not bulk up your lips.

Best Swimsuits For All Body Shapes

When it comes to clothing there are few pieces in your wardrobe that might give you as much anxiety as a swimsuit. With so many possibilities of shapes available in the market, the choice might not be so easy. The key is to find the right piece to flatter your body type so that you can be as comfortable as possible by the beach or the pool. The tips below might help you find the ideal swimsuit.

For a Large Bust

If you have a relatively large bust, you might consider a halter swimsuit or a strapless one. The underwire cup would provide you with adequate support. You might also opt for a swimsuit that consists of a unique neckline to show a hint of cleavage without going over the top. Asymmetric pieces can also be favored in you have a large bust.

For Straight Figures

If you have a straight figure, you would need to create the illusion of a defined waistline and hips. This can be achieved by choosing color block swimsuits which have indentation patterns at the section where you hips and waist would be. A swimsuit that bears a mix of horizontal and vertical lines would also be effective in procuring the illusion of curves.

If You Have A Tummy

If you have a tummy that you would like to hide or have a baby bump, you might opt for prints. Swimsuits that contain interior mesh panels are also effective in hiding a tummy. Drapes can also be effective to give the illusion of flat abs.

Crafting party favors

Written by Too Cute Beads

Party favors are essential if you are hosting a party. It might be in the form of small gifts, edible goods such as cakes and candies or just a thank you note. Your party favors would remind your guests of the great time they have spent at your place and act as a sign of gratitude on your part thanking them for having lifted up your party.

If you are giving away non-edible party favors, you might think about getting them ready before the party so that you would not have to worry about that on the day of the event. Classic party favors would consist of candles, greeting cards, photos or a souvenir reminding the theme of the party such as seashells for beach-themed parties. A unique party favor idea would be to include a piece of bead jewelry to the gift hamper. You might take a step further and include a jewelry making activity during your party. Your guests would thus be able to craft their own jewelry and to take it home as their party favor.

To include a jewelry-making activity in your party, you might want to stock up on jewelry making supplies. You could also get some Regaliz leather to help your guests easily craft bracelets even if they have not done it before. This would be a great opportunity to find out about the creativity of your friends and to watch them express themselves through this craft.

Tips on Buying Your First Mattress

Tips-on-Buying-Your-First-MattressWritten by: Bedding Style

Newlyweds have a lot to handle. Planning a wedding is time consuming enough, but what comes after is the beginning of a life together. You may have had disagreements over what looks nicest, or what will work for the home you both had pictured in your minds, but reality can bring us down to Earth. There are a few practical considerations you should keep in mind when it comes to purchasing your first bed. We’ll cover everything from firmness to sheets and frames, so read on for practical tips to help you make your decision.

Consider Your Budget

Before you decide to get that cheap bed from a department store, go and spend some time laying on it. There are two places in life where you don’t want to skimp on luxury: your shoes and your bed. Most cheap beds feel great when you first get into them, but you start to notice small deal breakers over time. These beds lack support and they often don’t last for very long. With that in mind, look at some quality beds and use that to help you determine what your budget ought to be. Some people spend several thousand dollars on a bed others would find too firm or unnecessary. Budgeting and demoing will go hand in hand, but expect to pay more than a few hundred dollars if you want something to last.

Also, don’t discount the power of negotiation. You may be able to get a free set of pillows, bed linens or even a box spring thrown in with your purchase if you can negotiate for them.

Size and Comfort

Having a wide bed is about personal space. Some couples don’t mind being in closer contact, and the smaller frame will save space in the bedroom for other pieces of furniture. You also want to make sure that the height of the bed matches your own height. A lot of shorter people will struggle to get into and out of a bed that stands tall.

As you are getting in and out of the mattress, take a moment to note the firmness. Some people like a mattress that cushions them, but others find that too soft and difficult to get out of.

Thoughts on Care and Bedding

When you buy your first set of bed sheets, buy a slip cover that is fitted to your size bed. When you perspire at night, you won’t stain your mattress. You can also buy a bed bug cover if you’re nervous about that particular nuisance.

Style Steals that are investment pieces

Usually, fashion and investment do not always pop up in the same sentence. But some pieces are definitely a must have to make your wardrobe stretch and make sure you look your best. Here are 5 staples that will make your wardrobe appear a lot more versatile.

A trench coat – A soft caramel coat can compliment any outfit. A double-breasted coat with a belt is flattering for any body shape. Choose a style that hits just above your knees to get the best from your proportions, no matter your height.

Over-the-knee boots – A fierce pair of over-the-knee boots can be paired with black skinny jeans. You could choose a pair with a heel or one without.

A saddlebag – Leather cross body saddle bag is ideal for any outfit. Look for ones with details like rose gold hardware and bow detail.

A cable knit sweater – A cozy sweater in chunky jersey can keep you warm on a cold day. A classic cable knit is all you need to make your way through winter. Choose styles in off-white, light gray or beige to make pairing your sweater easier.

Black distressed denim – Distressed denim is very popular at the moments and is matched with rips at the knees. You can pair your jeans with almost anything. Just make sure your top is relatively simple, to allow your jeans to be the highlight of your outfit.
